Further Certification
Using the knowledge gained from our courses for other certification
Once you have completed your level one or level two studies with us, should you wish to join to an institute, we can organise equivalent exams with the 'Institute of Certified Book-Keepers' (ICB) to complement our certifcation of your competence.
The extra cost for this is £60 but this also includes the cost of your initial membership to the Institute.
It is, however, important to note that this is not essential unless you are at the stage of beginning to trade as a book-keeper offering your services to other businesses.
The main benefit of membership to the ICB is realised if you actually start trading as a book-keeper. This is because you can pay a fee to the ICB for full membership when having gained equivalent certification and this takes care of the additional need to register your business with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
This is because, once you start trading as a book-keeper you have to be registered with the HMRC to make sure you follow your legal responsibilities to comply with the U.K. Money Laundering Regulations.
If you start your own small enterprise offering your book-keeping services to businesses and do not wish to join an institute or similar professional body, you would still need to register your book-keeping service/business directly with the HMRC.
There is nothing to fear in this but it does mean you will need to put in place some straightforward but essential anti money-laundering systems and processes as discussed in part of our Level two course.
